Localized online marketing platforms are red hot right now for advertisers. New technologies continue to emerge to offer advertisers the ability to target consumers down to the street level.
We recently launched a campaign with HopStop (Mapquest for mass transit) targeting visitors to NY traveling to and from the Times Square region.
From our initial reports, this campaign has showed us that there clearly is a market for those using this technology as part of their overall travel planning.
Here is a real-life example of how this technology is applied:
On the picture to your right, you will see what appears in a search for ‘new york city hotels’. The results were a list of Manhattan based hotels with little red markers that you could rollover to see the name of the hotel, address and reviews.
Why couldn’t Broadway shows be sprinkled throughout this same map targeting tourists looking for hotels?
Google’s technology is still in testing and we are in the process of looking for the best way to implement this into our online advertising plans. We will keep you posted.
